Hello world, my name is Harrison! (obviously)
As a kid, I volunteered at a tech donation center in my town. The center would take in old donated computer hardware and “upcycle” the parts into new machines for families who could otherwise not afford a personal computer. The bulk of the work was disassembling old office and school computers, wiping hard drives with a kill disc, building new machines from the best parts on hand, and installing a lightweight Linux distro along with free open source software.
One of the perks was that every once in a while, I got to build my own Frankenstein machine to take home and bring to life. Over the years, I used these old monsters to host static websites, phpBB forums, game servers, and more.
It was an earlier time for the internet, one I’ve always been fond of aesthetically. It was less cluttered, less bloated. I designed this website as an ode to those days: simple and static.
Created with Hugo and heavily inspired by the hugo-bearblog, this website is ~80kb.
